Q: How can I know the latest news of The Schools Operating Authority?

A: You can take a look at our website. We update our activities information regularly. Besides, The Schools Operating Authority will mail, email or fax the latest news to the User Unit.

Q: How could I know the activities meet the requirements?

A: You can ask your User Unit Leader or refer to The Hong Kong Award for Young People Hand book.

Q: Can I complete one activity for both the expeditions and residential project sections?

A: No! (Do not take the shortcut!) If you are willing to join the scheme, why not complete one more activity to face different challenges?

Q: Should I complete all the activities within three months after I have purchased the Record Book for commencement of my Bronze Level?

A: There is no such 3-month time frame, except you have to complete all the activities for application of an Award before your 25th birthday.

Q: I have been participating activities outside schools for a long period, but without record. Can I put all these records back in my Record Book?

A: The aim of the scheme is to help participants achieve their goals, so the activities they complete before getting the Record Book should not be taken into account, except that these activities are completed before three months they get the Record Book and meet the requirements of our regulations.

Q: What can I do after I have completed all the Sections?

A: Make sure your Record Book is properly completed and signed. Then give your Record Book to your User Unit Leader for the administrative procedures for applying for an Award.

Q: What should I do if I lost my Record Book?

A: You must first inform your teacher (the User Unit Leader) who will help you apply for a new Record Book. ($35@).

Q: What should I do if I lost my certificate and/or pin?

A: You must inform your teacher (User Unit Leader) who should then submitted Form AYP010 to apply for a new one. The fees are as follows:

Bronze Award certificate or pin: @$100
Silver Award certificate or pin: @$200
Gold Award certificate or pin: @$300

You should bring along your Record Book and a letter with explanations for such replacement. Please be reminded that all paid fees are not refundable and the AYP Headquarters would not guarantee the success of replacement of certificates.

Q: Do I have to inform my teachers before starting the sections?

A: Yes, because you must be approved first before starting any activities.

Q: What should I do if I have to change to another school?

A: You can inform your User Unit Leader about this. If your new school is one of our User Units, you can apply for such change. If not, you have to decide whether to change to another Operating Authority, or remain to stay as a participant of the original school with the consent of your User Unit Leader.

Q: What should I do if I want to update my personal information?

A: Form AYP010 should be completed and signed by your User Unit Leader before submission to SOA.

Q: I have already completed my five Sections of activities, but I will study abroad. How can I get my Gold Award?

A: You should submit your application for an Award (Form AYP007), logbooks and Record Book to SOA through your teacher. You also have to hand in the completed form "Notification of Attainment of Silver/Gold Award". After approval and endorsement, the AYP Headquarters will notify you direct. You may then send your family member to pick up the pin and certificate after the Gold Award Presentation.

Q: I have already completed the Bronze level and intend to start the Silver level, do I need to buy a new Record Book?

A: Every participant only has to buy one Record Book for recording the activities of the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

Q: I will study overseas, can I continue the work for an Award?

A: An application for transferral can be made provided that the country is also running the Award Scheme. There are over 60 countries in operation such as Australia, Canada, UK, New Zealand and Malaysia. Please call AYP HQs at 2728-3245 for enquiry.
