Q:Is The Schools Operating Authority equivalent to AOA?

A: Since The Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) has merged with The Education Department on 1st March 2003, the EDOA changed its name to The Schools Operating Authority (SOA). The SOA is under the EMB, so it is not equivalent to AOA.

Q: How can I be The Schools Operating Authority's expeditions instructor?

A: You must complete the expedition section in the Silver level or have rich experience in relevant areas and complete the expeditions instructor training course. The instructors from The Schools Operating Authority must fill in the application form and get a qualified certificate.

Q: What is a record book?

A: A record book is a book, which records the activities the participants have completed. Your assessor will write down his remarks on your record book every time when you complete an activity.

Q:What is a log book

A: A log book is a diary instead of a record book. You have to write down what you have experienced and what you have learnt after every activity. The format is not restricted. Every activity has one log book for record.

Q: How many members are there in The Schools Operating Authority?

A: Until January 2008, we have 35,000 participants.

Q: Are the Vocational Training Council and Universities are Schools Operating Authority's User Units?

A: No. SOA User Units are only limited to secondary schools.
