Q:Do my students need to take part in your activities in order to get the different levels of awards?

A: No. Although we hold activities regularly, students can still choose other activities, on condition that those activities must meet the requirements of? “The Hong Kong Award for Young People Hand book-Rules and Regulations”. Teachers can also hold their own activities for their students.

Q:Do schools need to buy insurance when students participate the activities?

A: We have already bought insurance for participants/instructors/assessors. If participants/instructors/assessors have an accident or die due to various kinds of activities (including skills section, service section, expeditions section, physical recreation section or residential project), they can demand a refund.

Q: How can this scheme assist in the development of the participants?

A: This scheme encourages youths explore different things in the world. They can then join some healthy activities that they seldom do in their pastimes. The scheme includes five sections: skills section, service section, expeditions section, physical recreation section or residential project, which make them braver to challenge new things and get along with people from different background outside the classrooms. They can learn many other things from the activities: communication skills, group spirits, preservations, self-learning skills as well as maintaining a healthy body. Development of every aspect can be advanced through participating the activities. Apart from self-discipline and independence, they will also get to know the importance of responsibility, which will be very useful in their whole life.

Q: What is Operating Authority? What is User Unit?

A: Operating Authority is responsible for promoting the scheme for the youths. The Schools Operating Authority is one of these units.
User Units are the branches of these units, which are the direct places for promoting the scheme and assisting the youths. The membership schools are one of these branches.

Q: How can we be the user unit under the Schools Operating Authority?

A: Principals or teachers must fill in the application forms after understanding the vision and mission of our scheme. Schools must meet the following requirements in order to be user unit:
(1) ?? The principal is appointed as the User Unit Controller.
(2) ?? At least one teacher is the User Unit Leader.
(3) ?? A board for posting the scheme information.
(4) ?? Place one hand book in the school library.

Q:Can I still be the User Unit Leader if I am not awarded the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards?

A: Yes. We actually do depend on teachers to promote the scheme. Apart from the ones who had been awarded, we also welcome those who have no experience at all because we do have a course for user unit leader to learn the spirit of our scheme to assist to your students.

Q:Do you provide any User Unit Leaders training?

A: We do have a course for User Unit Leaders in autumn every year. And we also hold some talks for them irregularly.
